Lisa and I were having a chat, we talked about people we knew in the ministry. They were mostly pioneers of churches, churches that are on the cutting edge today. As the conversation went on, we realised that most of these bold pioneering efforts took place in the 70’s.

Lisa, who was very much a part of that ‘movement’, told me that many of those pioneers were young, some of them were still in Bible school when they started a church. It seemed that there was a real hunger in the hearts of believers back then to carry out great exploits for God. They had a compassion for souls, a boldness to proclaim the good news and a faith to venture into the unfamiliar – of which we have not seen before or since.

We looked at each other with a brief pause followed by a sigh. Our faces expressed with the million dollar question, “What happened?”. What did we have then that we don’t now? It was at this point in time that I remembered my own experience of starting AYA. I began only with a vision. And in that vision, among other things, God showed me His desire to raise up a generation of ‘entrepreneurs’. I remembered writing this thought in my journal, “Daniel 11:32b ‘Entrepreneurs for Christ’.”

God is pouring out once again a ‘Pioneering Spirit’ upon His people.

l looked at Lisa again with a grin on my face. I felt as if a prophetic anointing had come upon me and I proclaimed to her what I strongly believed that we as youth leaders should be expecting in the near future. God is pouring out once again a ‘Pioneering Spirit’ upon His people. The Holy Spirit will come strongly upon this generation and our young people will see visions. They will have the faith to move mountains and the courage to overcome all obstacles. They will be a greater ‘movement’ than that of any other in the past.

Every day we are hearing of more and more amazing stories of God’s faithfulness to His people. I see God setting up His people for something beyond our imagination or control. Leaders must prepare themselves for this next move of God. Like the ministry of Elijah or John the Baptist, we need to provide all the support we can to prepare the way. Something awesome is about to happen, something we have been praying for for years. God’s economy is booming for Asia : “Entrepreneurs Wanted!”

D2Y2, which stands for Don’t Despise Your Youth, was an official Asian Youth Ambassador (AYA) magazine birthed out in the late 90s. The printed materials communicated dynamic and effective encouragement to and from the Church, with special emphasis on the knowledge and experiences of our Christian youths, which we believe the content is still relevant and applicable in this current generation.
