I didn’t ask you to be cool
“Rebellious. Talks back to parents. Sleeps late, wakes up late.” Sounds like today’s youth? That description was written in the 1800s.
In this message, Pr Dr Kenneth Chin reminds youth leaders that young people haven’t changed — only the gadgets have. Across every generation, the heart still longs for the same things: belief, belonging, friends, parents who trust them, and pastors who empower them.
And here’s the freeing part for every leader worried about staying relevant: you don’t have to be cool. As God told Pr Kenneth — “I didn’t ask you to be cool. I asked you to be hot. Hot for Jesus.” Stop worrying about the hair, the earrings, the image — young people aren’t looking at that. What they’re looking for 500 years ago, today, and 500 years from now is the same, because God created the heart.
