The Power Of Sharing

[ Preached by Pastor Kenneth Chin at Acts Church Malaysia – 26 November 2017 ]

There is much power and pleasure in sharing.

Taking from Ephesians 2:8-10, we are saved by grace through faith for a purpose. Salvation is not just a free ticket to heaven for ourselves, but rather for us to share with others after receiving it.

While we may often feel tired, burdened or even discouraged when we share, Galatians 6:9-10 encourages us to persevere in doing good, because when we press in, we will reap the rewards in due time. If what we are doing is indeed good, then we should continue doing so.

We are all saved to be sent out. (Matthew 28)

Matthew 10:8

Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.

Sharing begets joy, sharing begets excitement. Finding purpose and meaning through sharing allows us to find fulfillment. We are, after all, blessed to be a blessing. We were not blessed just for ourselves. Since God has given us all things freely, therefore we cannot love God without sharing.

Sharing builds communities.

Galatians 6:1

Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted.

When we begin to live a selfless life, many needs will be met. Living a selfless life comes from a position of caring and acknowledging that life is a lot more than just β€˜me’. The one who shares often gets more out of the act as compared to the recipient.

Sharing is sacrifice.

Hebrew 13:16

And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

As human beings, we are naturally selfish people, so we need the Holy Spirit’s help in sowing into others. And when we sow, we will surely reap.

Sharing seals our destiny.

Every time we are obedient when God challenges us to share, He is sealing the next step for us. And as we take each step in faith and obedience, He leads us to the next step, closer to our destiny. But if we are selfish and choose not to share when He calls us to, we will deny ourselves of the plans that He has for us.

Let’s find opportunities to share this week, your little acts of sharing can go a long way.
