Why and How to be Filled and Full of the Holy Spirit (Part 2)
[Preached by Pastor Kenneth Chin at Acts Church Malaysia on 24 September 2017]
We can say that we are filled,
but are we actually full of the Holy Spirit?
Read | Ephesians 5:18-21
We may have once felt this feeling of being filled by the Holy Spirit, to the point of being full. We may have felt it during a church conference or during a youth camp – we felt so full that we were strong, complete, confident and courageous.
There is even a quote that says, “When your tank is full, you will feel thankful!”
On the contrary, you would know when you are not full. When that happens, we will feel ungrateful, be overly critical and would constantly complain.
How do we know when we are full of the Holy Spirit?
When we begin to be thankful, even over things we are not naturally thankful for.
Read| Galatians 5:16-25
It is important to be filled with the Holy Spirit and not with the flesh. Once filled with the Holy Spirit, flesh will have no room to come in, as they can never be on the same side.
The works of the flesh are evident, as the verse continues on to say, and the Bible says that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Read| Romans 8:8-14
When someone says “fruit”, you think “tree”. You do not know whether a tree is good or healthy until you see its fruit. Similarly, when you are full and filled, it will be revealed by the “fruit” you produce.
When you are full and filled, it will be revealed by the “fruit” you produce.
The Holy Spirit is not just a figment of our imagination. Let us to use the advantage given to believers – the Holy Spirit is our helper and advocate.
