Just Add Water

The importance of water is often overlooked in spite of the common knowledge that water is highly essential to our lives.

There is a research that showed only 7% of people in the world drink enough water; whilst a staggering 22% do not drink water at all but consume other liquids.

Water is usually the first treatment prescribed by doctors to patients. In fact, 90% of those patients will experience positive recovery without the need for further treatment. As soon as we are thirsty and in need of water, it is a telling sign that we are already dehydrated.

You should not wait until you are thirsty.

Lack of water intake can lead to all kind of illnesses ranging from kidney failure, high blood pressure, skin diseases, constipation, heartburn, stomach ulcers, joint pains and brain disorders.

Drinking lots of water is one of the simplest ways to prevent diseases.

Water and Word is married.

Secular scientists had done experiments on water. The objective of the experiment was to determine whether water had life by separating water from the same source into two rooms. In one of the rooms, the scientists spoke positive words to the water whereas on the other room, negative words were spoken to the water. The results showed that there was a stark difference between the two waters – the latter was contaminated.

Ephesians 5:25-27 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

Tying back to scripture, the significance of water has been stated numerous times in the Bible. Jesus will wash and clean the church by the water of the Word.

The Word of God is also called water.

In John 4:10-14, we learn that in Christ, the water which He gives to us is living water where we will be able to achieve everlasting life. Through the living water, Jesus comes into us and cleanse us with the water of the Word.

Water can also be turned into a blessing or a poison.

In John 2:7-10, Jesus turned water into wine in a wedding ceremony when the wine was running out. The wine Jesus made from water was not just any ordinary wine but wine of good quality. It was so good that the new wine was better than the wine originally served.

As the human body is composed of almost 70% water (our blood consists of 90% water), how many of us are walking with contaminated water inside of us? We are in control of our bodies and the water held within us. If the water within us is contaminated with bitterness, vengeance and anger, we may not get the healing which we need. When we constantly curse, argue or fight, the water in us will be contaminated. If left unchecked, the water in our household can also be contaminated.

Consuming water and deciding what to do with the water within us is our responsibility.

We ought to be filling the water of the Word in us to the brim. If we have water of faith which is filled to the brim, miracles will happen. When you are filled to the brim, you actually let go of your past. If a cup of coffee is put under a running tap of water, it will eventually turn into clear water again.

The miracle performed by Jesus in John 2:7-10 where He turned water into wine was no easy feat. After all, a miracle is a natural process which is processed supernaturally. Wine making involves lots of water and the whole process usually takes months. Jesus did it almost instantaneously. Jesus probably added grace and sped up the time in making the wine.

Similarly, those who seek healing will know that healing is a natural process. However, some people do not have the time to see out this process, but Jesus is able to use the water within us by adding grace and supernaturally speeding up the healing time.

It is clear that it is in God’s plan to have water in our lives.

John 3:5  Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.”

Also in Genesis 1:3-10, we know that God created light first. But what did God create second? It was water. There was water above and under. God then spoke to the water under, asking it to be gathered together in order for land to be formed. Land was formed when water responded to God.

Land is where potential is, maybe water is covering the potential, so speak to the water within you so that your potential may appear and be realised. Potential appears when water has direction!

Now, the next time we drink water, think about the water inside us.
